Copilot in Power Automate Process Mining is a natural-language assistant for analyzing business processes. After a process has been imported into Power Automate Process Mining, you open the assistant pane and ask questions in plain English instead of digging through the process map by hand. It can surface top insights, recommend areas for automation, answer questions about your process data and answer general questions about process mining. It works from process statistics such as activity, edge and case counts, total and average durations, and rework figures. It belongs to Microsoft's Power Automate platform and runs in both the web app and the desktop app.

This capability is aimed at process analysts, operations managers, business analysts and automation teams who already use process mining but want faster answers. Newcomers benefit from the prepared prompt suggestions, which give a quick start without knowing the data model. Experienced analysts can ask direct statistical questions and use the summaries in reports. Using it requires a Power Platform environment, and an admin can switch the feature on or off in the Power Platform admin center. In some regions outside the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, cross-geo calls must be enabled first.

Typical scenarios include asking for the most common variant of an order-to-cash flow, finding which activity occurs most often, or checking which activities have the highest rework percentage. Analysts can request a written summary of a process to share with stakeholders, or ask for automation recommendations to decide which steps to hand to a flow. Teams in finance, procurement, customer service and IT operations can apply the same questions to their own imported event logs. The answers help prioritize which bottlenecks to investigate in more detail before building cloud or desktop flows.

Frequently asked

6 questions
What kinds of questions can I ask about a process?
You can ask for top insights, automation recommendations, and answers about your process data or about process mining in general. Statistical questions cover frequency, duration and rework for activities, edges and variants.
Who should use this assistant?
Process analysts, operations managers and automation teams working in Power Automate Process Mining will get the most from it. Prepared suggestions also make it approachable for people new to process mining.
Can it help me find where rework happens?
Prompts such as which activities have the highest rework and rework percentage are within scope, because rework statistics are available to it. It can also compare activities by that attribute and name the most common variant.
Where does it run, and what do I need first?
Both the Process Mining web page and the desktop app support it, and in the desktop app you select the assistant on the command bar of the process map view. A Power Platform environment and an imported process are required.
What are its limits on data access?
Access covers statistics for top items across activities, edges and variants, rather than every raw record. Admins can turn the feature off, and some regions need cross-geo calls enabled.
How do I begin a conversation?
Open an imported process, then select a prepared suggestion in the pane to get a first answer. Follow-up suggestions appear when available, and the text field at the bottom accepts your own questions.
