Ellipsis is a managed cloud platform for running coding agents. Teams describe each agent as a YAML file in their repository, including trigger, prompt, repositories, setup hooks, compute and budget, and Ellipsis runs it in an isolated sandbox. Agents can build features, fix bugs, review pull requests and investigate production issues. The coding agent tooling and model are interchangeable, so an agent can move between vendors, for example from Anthropic to OpenAI models, by changing one line. Pricing is usage-based: tokens plus a 10 percent platform fee, with no per-seat charges.
Engineering managers and platform teams who want to build their own software factory are the main audience, along with staff engineers who automate chores such as dependency updates and issue triage. Security-conscious companies can deploy into their own AWS VPC so credentials, code and model calls stay inside it, and choose how long session data is kept, from zero hours to one year. Individual developers can run interactive cloud sessions that avoid git worktree conflicts, and enterprises that want a direct line to the vendor can add a support package priced from $5,000 per month.
Typical agents include a weekday standup digest posted to Slack, a dependency updater that runs tests and opens a pull request every Monday, and a check that flags changed API routes with missing test coverage whenever a pull request is pushed. Others label new issues and find duplicates, guard database migrations, or assist on-call engineers. Triggers come from cron schedules and GitHub, Linear, Slack and Sentry events, and teammates can message a running session mid-task. Everything the dashboard does is scriptable through the REST API and CLI, and raw logs can be downloaded for every agent process.
