You get enterprise SSO and SCIM connections, unlimited organizations, and your own custom domain. The AI Security Suite adds a layer specifically for AI-based interactions through their Agen.co product — an agentic layer that lets users interact with your SaaS through generative AI platforms without creating security gaps.

Authentication works. Authorization works. Management and analytics give you visibility into who's accessing what. The fraud detection sits in the advanced tier, which means basic deployments don't get that protection out of the box.

The free tier starts at zero dollars monthly and includes 7,500 monthly active users. That's enough for early-stage products or internal tools. You also get five enterprise connections for SSO and SCIM integration. Once you cross those thresholds, you'll hit the enterprise tier with custom pricing. No middle ground exists between free and enterprise, which creates a pricing cliff for growing companies.

Multiple environments land in the enterprise tier too while testing changes safely costs money here. Advanced fraud protection also requires the enterprise upgrade, so basic security comes free but sophisticated threat detection doesn't.

Frontegg positions itself against Auth0, Descope, FusionAuth, WorkOS, Entra ID, Keycloak, and homegrown solutions. That's a wide competitive set spanning both managed services and open source options. Frontegg sits in the middle — more batteries-included than building your own, less established than Auth0.

B2B and B2C SaaS companies form the core market. Ecommerce, banking, and healthcare applications all need customer identity management, and Frontegg targets those verticals specifically. The AI security angle matters more for companies building AI features into their products rather than using AI internally.

The hosted approach means quick deployment but less control than self-hosted alternatives. You're trusting Frontegg's infrastructure for authentication, which works for most teams but won't satisfy every security requirement. Custom domain support softens that limitation.

7,500 users go fast. Five SSO connections fill up faster. The gap between free and enterprise pricing matters most for mid-sized companies — too big for free, too small for enterprise budgets. That's where Frontegg creates friction. Works well at the edges, less clear in the middle.
