Free Wordle-Style Word Game — Unlimited, No Daily Limit
WordZip: guess the 5-letter word in 6 tries — unlimited rounds, correct double-letter coloring, stats & streaks, shareable emoji grid.
What it is
WordZip is an unlimited Wordle-style word game: guess the 5-letter word in six tries, with green/yellow/dark feedback — and play as many rounds as you like, no daily limit. (Not affiliated with Wordle/NYT; the guessing-game concept itself is public domain.)
The detail most clones get wrong is double letters, and WordZip gets it right: greens are counted first, then remaining letter stock grants yellows — so guessing EERIE against CRANE marks only the final E. The on-screen keyboard colors itself with your best-known information (green beats yellow beats grey), physical keyboards work everywhere, and finished rounds offer a copyable emoji-grid share, Wordle-style.
Stats persist in localStorage: games played, win rate, current and max streak. Answers come from a curated list of 510 common English words, so solutions never feel unfair. One file, no server, no ads, no tracking.

Server requirements & dependencies
- Any modern browser — that's the whole list
- Any static file host to publish it (or none: the file works from disk)
- To embed on a site: a plain <iframe> pointing at the file
- No server, no database, no build step, no dependencies, no network calls
How to install
1. Unzip. You get one file: index.html.
2. Put it anywhere — a folder on your website, GitHub Pages, Netlify, a USB stick — or just double-click it and play locally.
3. To embed it on an existing page: <iframe src="/wordzip/index.html" style="width:100%;height:800px;border:0"></iframe>
Best scores save automatically in the browser's localStorage.

The prompt — build it yourself
Paste this into Claude and you'll get this product. This is the actual spec that produced the code above.
Paste this prompt into Claude to build this exact product:
What happened when we ran it: Claude produced the game in 192 lines with a 510-word list (verified: every entry is exactly 5 lowercase letters, zero duplicates). The double-letter algorithm got the best test story of the day: two of OUR test expectations failed — and on inspection the engine was right both times (EERIE vs CRANE correctly yields one green E and no yellow E, because the stock is spent). The code beat the test author. Zero revisions.
Note: there is no demo restriction — the demo IS the full game, and the download is the same single file. The prompt is for reproducing (or remixing) the build yourself with your own Claude subscription.
Build an unlimited Wordle-style word guessing game as a SINGLE self-contained HTML file called WordZip (inline CSS/JS, no dependencies, clearly labelled as not affiliated with NYT). Dark theme, teal accent.
The feedback algorithm must handle double letters correctly (this is where clones fail): first pass marks exact-position greens and builds a stock of the answer's remaining letters; second pass grants yellows only while stock remains, otherwise grey. Keep it a pure function.
Game: 6×5 tile grid; type with the physical keyboard or an on-screen QWERTY (enter + backspace keys); tiles fill as you type; submitted rows color green/yellow/grey; keyboard keys keep their BEST known state (green > yellow > grey). Unlimited rounds — a New Word button picks a random answer from an embedded curated list of ~500 common 5-letter English words (all lowercase, validated 5 letters). Win/lose messages (reveal the answer on a loss), localStorage stats (played, win %, current streak, max streak), and a Share button that copies the classic emoji grid (🟩🟨⬛) with the attempt count.
