I think AI makes us less capable
AI became part of daily work so fast. In a lot of jobs now, it does not even feel optional anymore.
For example, I am not a native English speaker, so when I need to write an email in English, I usually use AI. It helps a lot with speed. I can say what I want, fix the tone, clean it up, and just send it. That part is great, no doubt.
Same with analysis. Sometimes I just upload an Excel file and ask for the kind of analysis I want. The output can be really useful. Sometimes it even shows me angles I probably would not think about by myself. That is what I like most, because it saves serious time.
But the more I use it, the more I think about the other side of it.
Yes, it makes work faster. Yes, it makes things easier. But is that always a good thing for us? I am not even sure anymore. Maybe this is not really a problem. Maybe this is just the new normal.
Still, one thing keeps bothering me. AI clearly improves efficiency, but I am not sure it improves our own capacity in the same way. Because we do not struggle as much anymore. And usually, struggle is where real improvement happens.
So thats what I keep thinking about. Yes, AI is making our work better, but at the same time we’re getting less capable.
